Rains and wet ground ruined Orissa’s hopes as their pre-quarterfinal match against Tamil Nadu in the Vijay Hazare Trophy National One-day Tournament was abandoned without a ball being bowled at Agartala (Tripura) today.
Under the circumstances, Tamil Nadu pipping Orissa by a superior net run-rate to set up a quarterfinal clash against Bengal on March 4. Tamil Nadu had a net run-rate of 2.106, while Orissa were edged out with a 0.625 NRR.
Former India opener Aakash Chopra (107) and Virat Kohli (114) steered Delhi to a two-wicket win over Railways in another pre-quarterfinal of the day. Delhi will next face Mumbai in the last eight round also on March 4.
